5 Wardrobe Essentials I Cannot Live Without

Okay so the number one question I get in regards to fashion is, what are the main staples every girl should have in her closet for that particular season. Narrowing down the list to only 5 items for the Fall/Winter season (which was extremely difficult I might add), I thought of things that are functional, yet actually look cute paired with a variety of other items. I have to admit, I don't like sticking to just one style if that makes sense. Some days, I love wearing dresses and heels, and others I love dressing in more of the tom-boy look. I think with good style, versatility is key. With my style, I like buying very intricate pieces, or unique pieces that are normally challenging to pair with many items; however, I'm getting much better with my selection process. I think my ability to think outside the box when it comes to styling is what makes my technique so unique. For example, sneakers don't always have to be worn with jeans. You can always dress up a sneaker with a long tulle skirt and a plain, crisp t-shirt.
Here is a list of my Winter's TOP 5 wardrobe essentials I cannot live without.

1. Teddy Coat
BEST PURCHASE OF THE SEASON. I cannot stress this enough. When these coats first came out, I was skeptical about the trend. My mother had been visiting Vienna this past Autumn and during a shopping trip, I had tried on the popular blanket-like coat. She said it wasn't my style at all; it was true, that style of teddy coat in the black colour looked drabby on me. Seeing it more and more, I discovered other ways girls had been wearing it and actually found myself wanting to stray from my usual black coloured coats I always bought. I found my luxury brown teddy coat from Aurora UK, and immediately loved the fact that it was a made to order item. The only downside is that the process took over a month - from ordering to receiving my coat, but was it ever worth it! It fits me perfectly. I ordered a size small, which still has the oversized look that the teddy coats have. Super soft and the quality is excellent. I highly recommend these coats to anyone who is looking for a warm winter alternative to this seasons sought-after puffer jackets.
2. Fur Coat
I know this will be a controversial one, but I'm just going to say it, I love fur. Having Eastern European roots, fur was not just a fashion statement, it was a way of keeping warm in the coldest of climates. A lot of the fur I wear is ethically sourced - meaning I know how the animal was handled and that the remains were all put to use. I own quite a few fur coats and vests, and I have actually visited the farms in Poland's countryside where the animals reside in. Of course not all of my fur has been sourced this way, but it's my reasoning for wearing some of the fur products I do.
Out of all the fur coats I own, I have to say I love how versatile my brown mink coat is. The detailing is immense and the pockets even have a lush velvet lining. The craftsmanship that goes into one coat is mind-blowing. It's a work of art. In Vienna, the leading fur distributor is Liska. Their furs are of the highest quality and the variety is extensive - I highly recommend.
If genuine fur isn't your cup of tea, many designers offer faux-fur options that are just as luscious. The Doll Hause Boutique in Vancouver, B.C offers a vast range of colours and styles to suit your every need.
A gorgeous fur coat is the perfect staple to have in your closet - whether it be genuine or faux.

3. Combat Boots
I would say this one is quite an easy sell for me. You just can't go wrong with combat boots, really. I don't have much to say on them besides the fact that they are amazing for winters, especially if you get a quality pair. I found an amazing pair at Aigner last year, which I love until today. I alternate between those and another pair I was gifted by a family member, and they're my go-to winter shoes. I like to wear them with leather leggings, a chunky wool sweater, and a fur coat or wool trench-coat.
4. Mom and Boyfriend Jeans
I am so happy this trend is here to stay. I absolutely love mom and boyfriend jeans. As I said earlier, I love having these staples in my closet considering I can wear these jeans with just about anything. I have worn them with ankle boots, all types of heels, sandals, slides, etc. In the winter I usually wear them with a sneaker or a glossy boot to dress up the outfit just a bit. I bought my pairs from Zara as I find the fit of their jeans is amazing. I have a hard time finding jeans that fit my body type, as I have a bit of a booty despite being a size 25. I'm hoping that as Spring arrives, stores will come out with more designs to stock up on.
5. Hermes Scarf
Since I was a little girl, I would invade my mother's closet, trying on anything I could find. It was almost like entering Narnia - I would sit there for hours and put together outfits, which for the most part looked quite ridiculous, but my creativity occupied me for hours. She had a vast array of beautiful scarves and I was always so captivated by them for one reason or another. It was the Hermes Silk Scarves that were my favourite, not even the Chanel ones would compare.
If I could suggest a small piece to invest in, it would be a beautiful silk scarf. It makes every outfit look put-together and professional. My favourite one I own at the moment is the Autumn Print Hermes Silk Scarf. The colours are so vivid and matches to all the neutrals I wear. The perfect wardrobe essential.
